Dr. Peter Saunders can write a good murder book without having to resort to overaught sex, or violence, or gore. You might say, at times, his main character is gentle, kind and caring. These are qualities that seem to be missing from today's literature. This is a most refreshing change. Dr. Saunders is like a stand-up comedian who doesn't need to use vulgar jokes which is a credit to his talent. He weaves the past with the present and his story jumps from character to character and from time to time without confusing the reader. He shows the reader there are mysteries in life other than the same old murder mystery. This is a facit of mystery that I would like to see more of and he does it in a way that can be thought provoking and intriguing. His main character "Ward Emerson" has personality without having to be crass or obnoxious as so many detective characters seem to be these days. You can feel for him and also see his logic in deducing the crimes. I like how the story seems to take a period of time to evolve where others solve the crime in merely a few days. His other characters seem real with real emotions and feelings and a past history that shaped the story. His clues follow a logical progression that you can follow throughout the book. His ending is reasoned according to the clues given and does not throw in any information at the end that you would not have known as some other authors often doI am looking forward to future books by Dr. Saunders and that his characters will become a standard that will grow and I can read over and over again. I highly recommend his book"Gallery of the Chosen" to other fans of mystery .
